Reactor trip due to spurious signal generated by mistake of worker

Yonggwang unit 1 was operated at full power. During normal operation, surveillance tests for reactor protection system were carried out. Worker did not notice that he missed one step of procedure. The omitted step was to change the mode of selector switch from "operation" to "test". As mode of selector switch was not correct, one of the test contact points generated turbine trip signal. Reactor was tripped by turbine trip and P-7 interlock.
There was no release of radioactive materials outside the reactor building and no unplanned exposure to employees.
Justification: As full safety functions were available, the event is rated at level "0" as per User's manual Part III, Table II, A1.
