ERF description: Due to a failure in the main generator's cooling system the automatic protection system ordered the 23 kV generator breaker to open. The breaker opened correctly but a malfunction signal ordered the 400 kV unit breaker to disconnect from the grid. The automatic transfer to the alternative 130 kV line was initiated to feed the bus bars. During this transfer the overcurrent protection opened an explosive operated 6 kV connector. The smoke initiated the fire detection system and the fire brigade rushed to the site. The event had no consequence at all.
