ERF description: Unit 3 was operated at 22% power. The unit was isolated for repairs from 2.4. to 18.4.94. It was plugged in after repairs on 18.04.94 at 10:27 a.m. It was scrammed by emergency protection system due to the level drop in tanks of Emergency Reactor Cooling System at 11:25 a.m. The preliminary investigation has identified that fast initiated valves were opened because of short circuit in the control cable followed by hydrotank water ingress into the primary circuit. The unit was shutdown for inspection purposes. No infringement of conditions and levels of safe operation was found. Radiation situation is normal. The event was rated under level 1 on the base of failure of the safety system element and degradation of defense in-depth.
