Unit was operating at 170 MWe. While doing fortnightly test on Reactor Protective System Channel-E for Boiler differential temperature high logic "Differential temperature high" alarm did not appear. Channel E also did not trip even though boiler differential temperature indication went to off scale. The faulty indicating alarm meter was replaced and test was repeated. It was found normal . The reactor protection system channels are triplicated and reactor will trip if trip signal exists in 2 out of 3 channels. The trip on Boiler differential temperature high was tested on other 2 channels D and F on the same day and found healthy. Justification: This is an event without initiator. Safety function availability was full during the event. This event is rated at level 0 as per Table-I of users' manual.
