REACTOR SHUTDOWN BY THE ACTUATION EMERGENCY PROTECTION CAUSED BY THE LEVEL RAISE IN DRUM SEPARATOR |
On March 18, 1993, at 3:01 p.m. (Kiev time). Chernobyl Unit 3 reactor was shut down by the emergency protection system actuation caused by the level raise in the drum separator. The level in the drum separator raised because of an open valve at the distributing header at full work of the feed pumps.
No radiation release or personnel exposure. Safe operational limits are not violated. A special commission to investigate the open valve case has been organized.
