UNIT SHUTDOWN DUE TO PRIMARY CIRCUIT LEAK IN THE LINE OF CONTROLLED LEAKS FROM THE MAIN ISOLATION VALVE SEAL

Unit was shut down by operating personnel due to increase in the primary circuit controlled leaks rate up to 2 m3/h. The cause of excessive leak was the crack in the 18 mm Dn pipe of the line removing controlled leaks from the seal of main isolation valve no. 3. Radiation situtation at the plant and off-site remained unchanged. Breach of safe operation limits and conditions did not occur.
BASIS FOR RATING: Initiator - reactor coolant system leakage that would not prevent a controlled reactor shutdown. Criterion - degradation of defence-in-depth. Initial event - expected, real. Safety function availability: full, which corresponds to level 0/1 (A-1R).
