Inleiding
Introduction
Economische Zaken. Deze brochure valt uiteen in
twee delen: 'Energie in de wereld' en 'Energie in
Nederland'.
begeleidende tekst toegevoegd.
De balansen en grafieken zijn weergegeven in
verschillende energie-eenheden.

The brochure 'Energy in Figures' presents historica/
data, in most cases up to and including 1991, on
the production and consumption of energy, and on
prices. Forecasts on future energy consumption
and energy prices are included in other
publications, as issued for example by the Central
Planning Bureau (CPB), the Energy Research Centre
Foundation (ECN) and the Ministry of Economic
Affairs. This brochure is divided into two parts,
'Energy in the World' and 'Energy in the
Netherlands'. As the figures are often of a technical
nature, they are supported where appropriate by
explanatory text.
The balances and graphs are expressed in various
units of energy. Most of them, however, are
reported in petsjoules (PJ) and oi/ equivalent*. At
the rear of this brochure, you wil/ find two
conversion tables indicating the correlations
between the various energy units. In addition, there
is a world list of countries, based on the regional
classification as still used for statistical purposes in
1991.
In compiling this brochure, a range of sourees were
drawn upon: the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS},
the International Energy Agency (IEA), British
Petroleum Company P.L.C. (BP}, the Organization
