STANDING GROUP ON LONG-TERM CO-OPERATION Costs of Generating Electricity (Note by the Secretariat) COSTS OF GENERATING ELECTRICITY 1. At the meeting of the SLT on 12th and 13th November 1987 [IEA/SLT(87) 3 paragraph 9], the Secretariat provided an oral report on the production of an up-dated version of the above study. The purpose of this note is to seek the views of the SLT on the scope of this study, and in particular, the contents of the questionnaire which forms such a basic part of the work. 2. The study is to be undertaken by a joint IEA/NEA working party reporting to the SLT and to the NEA's Fuel Cycle Committee. The SLT will be responsible for the IEA contribution. It will have the advice of a working group set up by the Coal industry Advisory Board and may wish to consider whether it should seek advice from any of the other industrial interests involved. 3. A copy of the questionnaire used by the NEA in the 1985 version of the assessment is attached (the questionnaire draws on a similar UNIPEDE questionnaire, a copy of which is also attached).
