Green Political Alliance:
An Action Plan

S.P. Udayakumar

"Politicians and diapers have to be changed," declares an American bumper-sticker.
If they were not, they could cause diseases and even death. With sexagenarians and
octogenarians who can hardly walk or talk occupying the seats of power, and corrupt
men and women who barely have any vision or program proclaiming themselves as
"revolutionary" leaders, India does need a change of leaders.

Who do we change them with? We have to urgently raise a new breed of "political
workers" (NOT politicians) who are capable and willing to work as "servant leaders."
Before we discuss their qualities and qualifications, conduct and character, attitudes
and aptitude, and all other attributes, we need to have a setting where we can train
the new leaders, teach them about different political ideologies, theories and
philosophies, help them think about their local, provincial, national, regional
and global issues.

To start with, let us see where we stand as a nation. The great Indian independence
struggle was to get rid of one East India Company. Today we are in the clutches of
one thousand East India Companies. We valiantly got rid of British colonialism; now
we have voluntarily embraced American colonialism. We replaced the White Masters
with Brown Masters and now the Brown Masters have sold us all to the White
Masters. We, as a nation, are back in square one.
