Nuclear power station Atucha II
A project that is on the wrong side of the road in the world debate on renewable 
and clean energies.

Technical data - nuclear power station Atucha II
Gross power: 745 MW
Net power: 692 MW
Characteristics: type PHWR reactor (Pressurized Heavy Water Reactor), with 
pressure recipient and heavy water as moderator and cooling device and 
combustible elements with natural Uranium or Slightly Enriched Uranium (ULE).
Current Condition: construction suspended as from 1995.

Nuclear Power Station Atucha II (NPS-2) is placed a few meters away from the first 
station built in Latin America, Atucha I, over 100 Km northwest from the City of 
Buenos Aires, on the right bank of Paraná River and near Lima, a town in Zárate 
district, Province of Buenos Aires, Argentina.
For the execution of Atucha II, started in 1981, a mixed company was created: 
ENACE (Empresa Nuclear Argentina de Centrales Electricas Sociedad Anónima) 
(Argentine Nuclear Company of Power Plants Corp.) formed by the National 
Commission of Atomic Energy NCAE (Comisión Nacional de Energía Atómica 
CNEA) (75%) and German Company SIEMENS (25%).
Based on the document "Assessment and proposal of the National Commission 
of Nuclear Power" (June 2001) the following sequence of events for Atucha II 
project was created.
