From the publication:
A nuclear future can be an enriching experience Urenco is a leading global provider of value added services and technology to the nuclear generation industry worldwide. The enrichment services that we supply to nuclear power utilities across the globe are used to produce a safe, efficient, clean and reliable source of electricity. Our world-leading centrifuge technology is the result of over 30 years of continuous development. In order to meet the growing energy demands of the world's expanding population, it is necessary for the generation of electricity to be safe, clean, reliable and cost effective. With carbon emissions seriously threatening the delicate stability of our planet, it is imperative that our energy is clean. Nuclear energy is increasingly accepted as the solution to this complicated problem and as an indispensable platform for sustainable global development. The nuclear fuel cycle To prepare uranium for use in a nuclear reactor, it undergoes the following stages: Mining and milling Conversion Enrichment Fuel fabrication These steps make up the 'front end' of the nuclear fuel cycle. After uranium has been used in a reactor to produce electricity it is known as 'spent fuel' and may undergo a further series of steps including temporary storage, reprocessing and recycling before eventual disposal as waste. Collectively these steps are known as the 'back end' of the fuel cycle.
