From the publication:
EDITOR'S NOTE The NEA Nuclear Waste Bulletin is prepared by the Radiation Protection and Radioactive Waste Management Division of the OECD Nuclear Energy Agency in order to provide a means of communication amongst the various technical and policy groups within the radioactive waste management community. It delivers concise information on current activities, policies and programmes in 18 NEA Member countries and 3 international organisations. It also provides biennial updates of progress in the development of technologies for the management and disposal of radioactive waste. Furthermore, each edition contains a full report of the status of radioactive waste management in a specific country. The Bulletin includes four sections: • Country highlights; • Country focus; • National programmes and policies; • International organisation activities. As each edition of the Bulletin does not include an exhaustive description of all national programmes, the reader is invited to consult previous bulletins and, if necessary, to contact national correspondents in order to obtain more information. The information presented herein reflects the situation as of March 2000.
