Preface

Dear readers,

The number and activities of non-governmental organizations (NGO's) have increased
in the last few years. Non-governmental organizations play an increasingly
important role in society today, a role indeed important, yet often little noticed.
The series of directories is aimed at providing the user, regardless whether it is a
non-governmental organization or anybody interested in the world of non-
governmental organizations, with first hand information on the aims and activities
of dozens of NGO's.
Through the information contained in this Directory we would like to acquaint the
NGO's, the government institutions and the business world with the possibilities of
these organizations, which if used fully could contribute greatly towards better
understanding between people of different origin, culture and languages.
I am greatly pleased to be able to present to you the third edition of the Directory
of non-Governmental organizations in Macedonia, which is part of the Edition Civic
Society, Series Directories.
The Directory presents the registered non-governmental organizations working in
the Republic of Macedonia and which have filled in the MCIC's questionnaire.
In the end, I would like to thank everybody that has taken part in the realization of
this project, namely the following: the Regional Environmental Center, the Balkan
Student's Information Center, the Humanitarian Association for Emancipation,
Solidarity and Women's Equality and Mr. Predrag Zivkovic from London. The project
is funded through the financial assistance of the Dutch Interchurch Aid and the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands - the General Directorate for
International Cooperation, as part of the support to the 1995-98 Civic Society
Program of the Macedonian Center for International Cooperation.

Saso Klekovski
